Standards Development Process The Ghana Standards Board develops and promulgates standards for all sectors of the economy. These standards are produced by a process of consensus between stakeholders in an open and transparent manner. Standards are used by the Government, Private Sector and Consumers in procurement, trade, production, manufacturing and provision of services. The development of a Ghana Standard is initiated by stakeholders. These stakeholders are mainly: Standards are developed through Technical Committees and their Sub-Committees. They are made up of representatives of the relevant stakeholders in a particular subject area or industry sector. The steps involved: The steps involved in the development of a Ghana Standard are as follows: STEP 1: Request for the development of a Standard in a particular subject area or STEP 2: Consideration of request and approval STEP 3: Request referred to the relevant Technical Committee STEP 4: Preparation of working Draft by working group STEP 5: Consideration of working draft by Technical Sub-Committee (SC) STEP 6: Consideration of Committee draft document by Technical Committee STEP 7: Draft document circulated among Stakeholders, other Standards Bodies STEP 8: Final Technical Committee (TC) meeting to consider comments received STEP 9: Editing and publishing of document STEP 10: Gazetting of the Standard through the Legal Unit of GSB and the
industry sector.
